Tuesday 29th November – walk ***** – Holywells Park, Ipswich – Damp
and gloomy.
Two proud Grandparents would like to announce the arrival of Maeva Margaret
Squirrell born a full 2 months early last Saturday but a surprisingly good
weight of 4lbs 5oz, we were amazed when our son Dan with partner Jay
arranged a visit for us today at 2 at Ipswich Hospital:) We decided to make
the most of the day by packing lunch and driving over to the lovely
Holywells park for a walk though the autumn colours. Arriving at midday we
did a circuit of the park but although the trees looked magnificent other
parts looked tired, not helped by the gloomy winters weather, a lot of the
lakes and stream were covered in duck weed, the gardens looked bare and the
café and information centre in the old stables is all closed and the
children’s adventure park is shut due to a complete refurbishment, that
will be great when open! We still enjoyed our walk through the trees
spotting loads of squirrels and robins plus the usual ducks, moorhens and
coots but no king fisher, egret or heron today and our picnic by the lake
was nice. It was then a short drive to the hospital, Mag had left her
mobile at home so could not contact Dan for final meeting arrangements but
we meet an old friend Dawn who works at the hospital who pointed us in the
right direction and were surprised how quickly both Mag and I we in with
Maeva in her private room because Jay has tested positive with covid which
made for a very private meeting with our first Granddaughter who is an
absolute star with such tiny hands and feet, a real miracle! A doctor then
fitted a dip to her tiny hand which is when we heard her voice for the
first time! Dan then arrived, Jay had to stay in the car until we left and
we both got to touch her tiny hands and feet for the first time through the
holes in the incubator:) We had a lovely hour before going to see Jay still
very sore from her c section and then home. Looks like Maeva will be in
hospital a couple of months before coming home which we all cant wait for
and look forward to having many adventures together and can’t wait to
introduce her to the rest of the family especially Grandson Arlo! Top day
:)
PS - a bonus in the evening when I got one of todays pics on BBC's Look
East :)
